How We Stand With Your Family

Supportive Counseling for Children & Teens

Trauma can leave kids feeling confused, anxious, or angry. We provide a safe, gentle, and age-appropriate space for children and teenagers to express their feelings, process what they’ve experienced, and build healthy coping skills—always at their own pace.

School Stability & Educational Advocacy

Leaving a dangerous situation shouldn’t mean falling behind in school. If you have to relocate, we advocate directly with local school systems and guidance counselors across Accomack and Northampton counties. We help coordinate safe school transportation and ensure your child maintains their education without disruption.

Essential Needs & School Supplies

When families leave in a crisis, school backpacks, clothes, and shoes are often left behind. We ensure your children have the basic essentials, school supplies, and clothing they need so they can walk into the classroom feeling confident and prepared.

Support & Guidance for Parents

Parenting through crisis and trauma is exhausting. We work alongside parents to offer positive parenting strategies, emotional support, and practical tools to help you respond to your child’s emotional needs while you navigate your family’s fresh start.

Community & Teen Prevention Education

Building Healthy Relationships Before Abuse Starts

Breaking the cycle of violence means educating our youth early. Our Children’s Advocate delivers engaging, age-appropriate presentations on healthy relationship dynamics, emotional boundaries, and teen dating violence prevention.

What Parents Need to Know

  • Q: Will my child be forced to talk about what happened?
    • A: Never. Our care is entirely child-led. We build trust first through play, art, and supportive conversation, ensuring your child feels safe every step of the way.
  • Q: Do we have to stay in the shelter to get help for my kids?
    • A: No. Our Children’s Advocacy services are completely free and available to all families on the Eastern Shore, regardless of where you are living.

We are here to support both you and your children.

Your child deserves safety, peace, and a bright future.
